Internship and Educational Opportunities Available to Pennsylvania College of Art & Design Students

Who we are:
Murals & More LLC
www.muralsandmore.com

Artist Michael Cooper has been painting large-scale murals for almost two decades. Since starting Murals & More he has been involved in projects ranging from small interior residential rooms to walls that are literally miles in length. He is an accomplished faux painter and is known throughout the Mid-South for his attention to detail, as well as his whimsical application of trompe l'oeil. People have simply been amazed in discovering that what they thought was architectural detailing was actually a flat painted surface. Cooper founded Murals & More after painting murals as a hobby for nearly his entire life. While his specialty is working in large scale, Michael has also provided his clients with painted furniture, floor cloths, backdrops, scenics, and much more.

His most recent projects include two large (30’ x 50’ and 15’ x 100’) exterior murals for the town of Lynchburg, Virginia; 5 murals for the Kirk Family YMCA in Roanoke, Virginia; a large interior mural for the Salem, Virginia Family YMCA; transforming the exterior of Cumberland Transit (an outdoor sports and hiking store in Nashville), and painting the first work of public art in downtown Dickson, Tennessee, on a 40' x 80' exterior brick wall. He is scheduled to paint a 15' x 300’ wall for Nashville’s Bicentennial Mall, and is in the process of painting over a mile and a half of highway retaining walls and parapet walls in Gatlinburg, Tennessee.

Who we’re looking for:

We’re looking for painting students who are interested in learning about life as a working artist, first hand. Interns will participate in both the execution of indoor and outdoor large-scale murals and in the business aspects of a relatively unique studio. Students should know which is the working end of a brush, and should not have a fear of heights.

Internships are available throughout the year. We offer short duration internships over the summer in addition to longer duration programs throughout the rest of the year. In lieu of salary, this internship offers a wealth of hands-on experience and real world knowledge.

Contact Information:

Students should submit a short written statement concerning their professional goals and what they wish to achieve through an internship of this nature. Statements should include five or six examples of recent work and can be mailed to:
