the Mural Resource Project
 Pennsylvania
College of Art & Design,
Central PA's only professional art college, has developed the Mural Resource
Project in response to the community's interest in mural creation. Each
year, the college receives hundreds of requests for help with, or execution
of, murals. These requests come from individuals who want murals for their
homes, community organizations wishing to beautify their neighborhoods,
or developers who want to enhance a project. A good number of these projects
never get off the ground due to the unanticipated complexity of a mural
from both a financial and logistical standpoint. In addition, although
this region is fortunate to have many artists, most have never had any
experience with mural execution. By creating the mural resource project, the college can serve as the community's resource, providing listings of local muralists, commercial painters who employ muralists and who do mural prep work, library resources, mural-related courses and workshops for artists, and links to funding sources and grant opportunities. For those in the community interested in being included in the resource listing, applications are available at the college.  Mural
