Circulation

You must have a valid PCA&D identification card with you to check-out any material from the library. All material must be checked-out at the circulation desk.

Materials should be returned to the circulation desk during open library hours. A book drop located outside of the library is available for after hour book returns.

Loan Periods

  • Books - 14 days
    May be renewed 2 times for an additional two weeks each time.
  • Audio-Visual (DVD, VHS CD, Cassette)- 7 days
    May be renewed for 1 time for an additional 7 days.
  • Magazines (back issues only) - 14 days
    May be renewed 2 times for an additional two weeks each time.
  • Reserved Material (print and audio-visual) - Overnight - can not be renewed.
    Must be checked-out after 3:00 p.m. and returned before 9:00 a.m. the following day.
  • Digital Cameras (still and video) - 24 hours with the exception of Friday. Cameras must be returned to the library by 8:15 PM on Friday. No weekend loan periods.
    May NOT be renewed.
  • Other Media Available to Students (card readers, animation tables, flash drives) - 6 hours
    Headphones are available to USE IN THE LIBRARY.
  • Reference material, current magazines, professional collection, special collection and archive collection - These resources DO NOT CIRCULATE to students.
    However, they may be used by students in the library.

Fines and Fees

  • Books - $0.20 / day
  • Audio-Visual (DVD, VHS CD, Cassette)- $0.50 for the first day; $1.00 / each day thereafter
  • Magazines - $0.20 / day
  • Reserved Material - $1.00 / day / material is considered late after 9:00 A.M. Fines will begin to incur immediately. NO EXCEPTIONS
  • Digital Cameras (still and video) - $10.00 / day
  • Other Media Available to Students (card readers, animation tables, flash drives) - $10.00 / day
  • Lost or damaged material will be replaced at the expense of the borrower.
  • A Copier is available for use for a per copy fee.
  • A Change Machine is located on the third floor vending area (North Building).
  • ALL MATERIAL MUST BE RETURNED AND ALL ACCOUNTS MUST BE CLEARED AT THE END OF EACH SEMESTER.

Reserve Material

To support the academic programs of Pennsylvania College of Art and Design, the library provides the maintenance and distribution of reserve resources. Instructors may place items on reserve to support course content. The material must be checked-out and returned to the circulation desk. DO NOT return any reserved items in the book drop.

 

Book Reserves

  • Reserved books may be checked-out overnight. They must be checked-out, at the circulation desk, after 3:00 PM and returned, at the circulation desk, before 9:00 AM the following day.
  • A limit of one reserve book may be checked-out to any individual at any given time.
  • Reserve material will incur a $1.00 a day fine.
  • Your PCA&D identification card is required to check out reserve books for use in the library.

Copy Reserves

  • Your PCA&D identification card is required to check-out instructors' copy binders for use in the library.
  • A copier is available in the library to make your own copies at a small fee. Your PCA&D identification card is required for making copies of reserved library materials.

Please be kind to your fellow students by returning the material on time, so they may have the same opportunity to borrow them.

Electronic Reserves

  • On-campus access to electronic reserves is available on the library website under the Electronic Resources tab.
  • Printing is availalable.

Pennsylvania College of Art and Design Library will periodically and randomly conduct assessment surveys of the services provided. Surveys will be presented to all users of the library including faculty, students and staff. Survey results are analyzed and evaluated to improve the quality and type of services provided by the library.
